Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Ellwood's Pillar showcases stunning dark blue-green, feathery foliage with greyish hues in all seasons.  The compact narrow, upright shape of this conifer makes it the perfect choice for a feature tree in smaller gardens, suited to rockery and border planting, and to bring rich colour to any garden throughout the seasons.

Lawson Cypress Ellwood's Pillar has the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is tolerant of both full sun and full shade. Just avoid very exposed positions and it grows best in moist, but well-drained soils. Growing to only 1 x 0.5 metres in 20 years, Ellwood's Pillar has a neat, columnar shape and its growth is almost as tight as that of Juniperus communis Compressa.

AKA Lawson cypress Ellwood's Pillar, False cypress Ellwood's Pillar, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Ellwood's Pillar 'Flolar'

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
