Description

This fine-looking, small garden tree is popular for its subtle foliage colour variations. The leaves of Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Ellwood’s Gold are mid-green and the tree itself has an upright, flame shape. It is at the upswept tips of the green foliage that Ellwood’s Gold Cypress Tree has yellow colouration. The yellow tips of the foliage look most impressive close-up and so this Lawsons Cypress makes a great choice for planting near seating areas or pathways.

This small evergreen tree will grow to 4 x 1 metres in 20 years and requires a moist but well-drained position away from bad exposure. The perfect tree for year-round interest, adding texture, colour and form to a garden.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
