What payment methods do you offer?
We offer Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, as well as Paypal Pay in 3 and Klarna to spread the cost.
What is a pre-order?
Trees on pre-order are still growing and an estimate of when they will be ready is given on the basket page. Orders will be despatched when all trees are ready.
Can I add to my existing order?
As long as your order hasn’t been despatched, you can usually add to your order by calling us on 01943 660870
How will my order be delivered?
Our smaller trees and plants are carefully packaged in sturdy boxes made from recycled cardboard and delivered by specialist couriers.
Larger trees will not be packaged and will be hand-delivered by our own delivery team.
If you are ordering several shrubs or trees, we may ship them to you on a carefully wrapped pallet, keeping the cost down for you and helping us to reduce our carbon footprint.
For more information please visit our Delivery Information section.
When will my order be delivered?
Delivery times vary by product so please check the individual product(s) for a delivery estimate. If ordering multiple plants with different delivery estimates, your order will normally be delivered only once all items are ready. Once your order is placed, we will keep you updated.
For more information please visit our Delivery Information section.
What if I'm out when you deliver?
We can leave your order in a safe place as we don't normally require a signature upon delivery. Please specify where in your delivery instructions (for example, 'leave through side gate'). Please note we are not liable for any losses or damages caused to items kept in your designated safe space.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver to mainland United Kingdom including the Scottish Highlands & Islands.
Where is the Rootgrow I ordered?
Please check inside the plastic bag as we stow it there to keep it safe.
How do you measure trees?
Bushes and smaller trees are measured in height (up to 250cm), starting at the soil level near the top of the pot. More mature trees are measured by girth size (circumference of the stem taken 1 metre up from soil level).
Do fruit trees require pollination?
The flowers on a fruit tree need to be pollinated to produce fruit. Some fruit trees are self fertile, but most require pollen from a different variety within the same species. Some are self-sterile so will not pollinate other trees. In addition, fruit trees flower at different times, so are classed into pollination groups so you can check compatibility.
You can learn more about pollination by reading our Beginner's Guide to Fruit Tree Pollination.
Can I call for advice?
We have a wealth of information in the help and advice section, but if you cannot find what you are looking for, please call our friendly team on 01943 660870.
Is the nursery open to the public?
Our nursery is a busy despatch centre and viewings are not possible. Collecting trees can be arranged by appointment (dispatch charges will be refunded).
Can I see a photo of the specific plant I will receive before ordering?
You can request to receive a photo of your plant when placing your order. Please leave a note in the 'Delivery instructions' section and a member of our customer service team will send a photo for your approval once the plant is ready to ship.
Do you offer a planting service?
Sorry, not at this time.
How big should I dig my planting hole?
We recommend digging a hole as deep as the pot/rootball and approximately twice as wide. For reference, a 5 litre pot is approximately 20cm diameter x 20cm height, a 10-12 litre pot is 25cm x 25cm and a 45 litre pot is 35cm x 35cm.

How do I prune my trees?
Please read our guide on How to Prune Ornamental Trees to learn more.
How long can I keep a potted plant before planting it?
Most of our potted trees can be kept in their pots a month prior to planting and will require daily watering in hot or very dry weather.
Why does my tree have no leaves?
Deciduous trees lose their leaves in winter. Trees in containers are more susceptible to temperature changes so often lose their leaves earlier.
Why is my tree a different colour than expected?
The foliage on some ornamental trees changes colour with the seasons and not just in autumn (see specific product pages).
To protect our Japanese Maples from strong sunlight, we keep them in a shade house that can affect the leaf colour, but their natural colouring will develop once planted outside.
Can I open a trade account?
Currently we do not offer accounts for trade customers, however we can offer trade discounts for selected bulk orders. Please visit our Trade & Professionals section to learn more.
