Description

Hamamelis 'Rubin' is a deciduous shrub or small tree with an upright, rounded habit, typically reaching a height and spread of around 4m. In spring, it produces broadly oval, textured green leaves alongside slightly scented, distinctive red witch hazel flowers with crinkled, narrow petals. In autumn, the leaves turn vibrant shades of orange and yellow before falling, followed by a second flowering in winter on bare branches. This witch hazel thrives in moist but well-drained soils and prefers a position with full sun to partial shade.

AKA: witch hazel 'Rubin', Hamamelis japonica 'Rubin'

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
