Description

Highly fragrant sulphur yellow flowers in January – February make 'Pallida' a must for winter interest. The yellow, fruit scented flowers cover the beautifully architectural vase shaped form of this yellow Witch Hazel shrub. Flowers are followed by large, green foliage that turn yellow and orange in autumn, before falling to reveal the arching and spreading form. Hamamelis are also of great value to wildlife.

Hamamelis x intermedia 'Pallida' has deservedly received the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Expect a height and spread of 4 x 4 metres in 20 years when given a well drained, acid - neutral soil in partial shade or full sun. This yellow Witch Hazel will also tolerate some exposure.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
