Description

The very dark red, almost black, cherries of Sunburst are both eye catching and have excellent flavour. Described as a black cherry tree due to the colouring of the fruits, it is similar to Stella but with much darker-red cherries.

Pretty white spring blossom and attractive autumn foliage colour make this self fertile cherry tree a strong contender for ornamental gardens. Sunburst cherry trees also benefit from good resistance to splitting which is particularly good as you would not want to lose these delicious cherries!

Prunus avium 'Sunburst' originates from Canada 1984.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
