Colourful Stemmed Cornus Shrubs

We’ve expanded our range of shrubs to include a stunning choice of Cornus shrubs, or Dogwoods as they are commonly known. These really come into their own in the wintertime, when their leaves have fallen and their vibrant coloured stems are on full display.Cornus shrubs are hardy, grow well in most soil conditions and even tolerate the damp. After the first year, just remember to prune them hard around February or early March. This encourages them to produce lots of new growth which is where the vivid colours are displayed.Choose Siberian Dogwood (Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’) for its striking crimson red stems. For deeper red stems, opt for White Dogwood 'Kesselringii' (Cornus alba 'Kesselringii'). Golden Twig Dogwood (>Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea') has bright greenish-yellow, almost golden, stems. If you can’t decide what colour you want then Dogwood 'Midwinter Fire' (>Cornus sanguinea 'Midwinter Fire') has spectacular fiery coloured stems that are shades of red, orange and yellow.
