Description

This Golden Willow tree looks glorious in winter when the bare stems take on shades of red, orange and yellow. The stems of Salix alba vitellina 'Yelverton' are also favoured in basket weaving for their colour. Narrow mid-green leaves are joined by fairly small catkins in late Spring.

Salix 'Yelverton' is an unfussy, relatively fast growing Willow that copes admirably in most soils and grows in full sun or partial shade. Whilst it can grow as a shrub, we offer it as a single stem that can grow to 6x5 metres in 20 years. It is a great specimen for pollarding to encourage the colourful new stems.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
