Description

Photinia × fraseri 'Carré Rouge' is a compact and colourful new variety of Photinia. Closely related to the popular Photinia × fraseri 'Red Robin', yet more compact, requires less pruning and features smaller leaves. Young leaves emerge an intense shade of red and transform to a deep glossy green as they mature. The foliage is accompanied by pretty, white flowers which grow in panicles in springtime.

'Carré Rouge' continues to produce new growths throughout the growing season for longer-lasting colour. It's a great low maintenance solution for gardens of all sizes and when grown in a large pot, is also ideal for adding a splash of colour to patios.

Also known as Christmas berry 'Carre Rouge', this hardy evergreen can tolerate partial or dappled shade but prefers a full sun position for the brightest colour. It grows in most draining soils and will reach a height and spread of 2.5 x 2.5 metres in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
