Description

Alnus glutinosa, known as Common or Native Alder, makes an ideal fast-growing deciduous hedge. It has a broad, conical shape and features rounded, bright green leaves that contrast beautifully with the brown fruits produced in spring. In autumn, it develops catkins from grey-purple buds, adding seasonal interest. This robust tree thrives in all soil types, whether exposed or sheltered, and flourishes in full sun, making it an excellent choice for diverse landscape setting.

This is a cost-saving bundle of 25 hedging plants.

AKA Native Alder, Common Alder, Black Alder

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
