Description

Hoheria sexstylosa 'Snow White' is an evergreen tree that produces numerous pretty white flowers in early summer, making it a great choice for both summer and winter interest. The flowers are similar in appearance to those of Cherry blossom trees. The leaves are deeply serrated with a tooth like appearance around their perimeter.

The tree forms a pyramidal shape but can be turned into a hedge with pruning. It grows up to 4 metres tall in 20 years, but again it can be pruned to keep it smaller if desired.

It will cope with any type of soil if it is well drained. In colder areas it is advisable to plant it in a sheltered spot away from cold winds.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
