Description

One of the most popular yellow leaved ornamental trees, Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst' is favoured for its vibrancy, small size and versatility. The arching branches are clothed in golden yellow, small pinnate leaves that turn a lime green in the summer and then clear yellow in the autumn.

Growing well in most free draining soils, 'Sunburst' can cope with dry spells and full sun to partial shade. It even tolerates some wind exposure and air pollution, making it a truly adaptable choice. The tree has a slightly spreading form and will grow to just 5 x 3 metres in 20 years.

Known as a Golden Honey Locust, 'Sunburst' is an award-winning small tree that will make a big impact with its bright, light, feathery foliage.

AKA Golden/Yellow Honey Locust, Gleditsia triacanthos f. inermis 'Sunburst'

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
