Description

Cornus kousa 'Blue Shadow' is a deciduous and vigorous large shrub known for its elegant form and unique deep blue-green leaves that boast a beautiful sheen. In early summer, it produces large, creamy-white bracts that surround a small central cluster of flowers. As the bracts mature, they soften to a pretty pale pink, providing a striking display that lasts throughout the summer. In autumn, the foliage transforms into stunning shades of red, orange, and purple, while the tree produces strawberry-like red fruits, adding seasonal interest along with ornamental features.

Cornus kousa 'Blue Shadow' will thrive in full sun or partial shade in an exposed or sheltered environment. It prefers well-drained, rich soils and reaches an approximate height and spread of 9x6 meters.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
