Description

Camellia japonica 'Powder Puff' is an elegant, flowering evergreen shrub, producing large, creamy white double flowers from around March—a little later than other camellia varieties. The flowers are ruffled at their centres and their pure white colour contrasts wonderfully with the glossy evergreen leaves.

Preferring a partial shade to full shade position, Camellia 'Powder Puff' would make an elegant choice of screen as it keeps its foliage year-round. As it’s suited to container planting it would also be ideal for brightening up a shady corner of a patio. A moist, well-draining soil is preferred (we recommend an acidic soil). You can expect Camellia japonica 'Powder Puff' to reach an approximate height and spread of 3 x 2 metres in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
