Description

One of the more upright forms of Norway Maple, Acer platanoides 'Fairview' is a solid choice for urban areas and avenue planting. In spring, small yellow flowers contrast against colourful red new foliage. The large, lobed leaves transition to dark-green and finally bronze in autumn.

Acer platanoides 'Fairview' is tolerant of most soil conditions, along with drought and pollution. With an oval habit, it will grow to a height and spread of 8 x 5 metres in 20 years but more in maturity. It is a relatively new variety that is closely related to 'Crimson King'.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
