Description

Abelia 'Edward Goucher' is a pretty-pink flowering shrub with semi-evergreen foliage. The leaves, which only fall for a small period in the winter, are a deep, glossy green and contrast beautifully against the funnel-shaped, lilac-pink flowers. The shrub continues its impressive display of colour with rich bronze calyx lobes which surround the fragrant flowers. For its resilience and low maintenance, it has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

'Edward Goucher' will thrive in full sun within a sheltered environment. It prefers moist but well-drained chalk, loam and sand soils. It has an ultimate height and spread of approximately 2.5 meters.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
