Description

Providing winter interest, Edgeworthia Chrysantha Grandiflora is a unique, deciduous shrub native to Japan and China. It is commonly referred to as 'Oriental Paperbush', a nickname derived from its historical use for paper-making in Asia. Edgeworthia Grandiflora is admired for its bright, buttery yellow flowers which bloom in the late winter to early spring. In the summer it also produces long, slender, green leaves. Lightly fragrant, the beautiful blossom and long, clear stems make Paperbush Grandiflora ideal for cutting and it will look lovely incorporated into a floral arrangement. Add some winter radiance to your garden by planting Edgeworthia Chrysantha Grandiflora as a specimen plant or as part of a mixed border.

This attractive winter flowering shrub prefers a sheltered position and a rich, loamy soil with good drainage. It can tolerate partial shade but prefers full sun for the most vibrant bloom. Its approximate height and spread is 1.5 x 1.5 metres in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
