Description

Rouge de Bordeaux has particularly attractive purple figs with red flesh. The sweet, tasty figs can be harvested around late summer. If you have a sunny and sheltered position or a greenhouse, Rouge de Bordeaux is a fantastic choice for the wonderful figs it produces.

To encourage the tree to produce more figs rather than leaves, we recommend restricting the roots. You can do this by either planting Rouge de Bordeaux in a pot or lining the planting hole with bricks or paving slabs.

AKA Figus carica 'Rouge de Bordeaux'

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
