Description

Mulberries are produced that have a very rich, intense flavour. An attractive, rounded tree, 'King James I' (originating from a a 17th century tree) has heart shaped leaves that turn yellow in autumn and gnarled bark. Large and succulent fruit can be eaten straight off the tree or used in cooking. Crops in August.

This variety originated from the Chelsea Physic Garden in the 16th century and crops well on relatively young trees.  Highly recommended!

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
