Description

An exceptional Mulberry tree, Morus nigra 'Wellington' produces fruit from a much younger age than many other varieties. The substantial crops of medium sized, oval red-black mulberries have a good flavour. They can be picked when ripe in late summer and are ideal for making conserves and wine.

Morus nigra 'Wellington' has good ornamental properties, with attractive glossy light-green leaves that often turn yellow in autumn. Mulberries are rarely found in shops as they do not travel well, so the self-fertile 'Wellington' is a great choice for the garden if you want an attractive tree and unusual fruits.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
