Description

Amelanchier alnifolia 'Obelisk' is a small upright tree or large slender shrub, making it ideal for smaller gardens or limited space. Recemes of white star-shaped flowers with green centres adorn the tree in mid-spring.

Young leaves start off with a bronze hue before maturing to green. In Autumn, they turn yellow-orange before falling to the ground and leaving attractive dark red-purple fruits on the tree.

Amelanchier 'Obelisk' is a very hardy deciduous tree that is more upright than other Amelanchiers, reaching around 5 x 2.5 metres in 20 years. It can cope in exposed sites and likes full sun or partial shade in a neutral or acidic soil. 'Obelisk' is a great choice for providing changing interest in a variety of tricky locations.

AKA Amelanchier Obelisk, Alder-leaved Serviceberry, Juneberry Obelisk

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
