Description

Part of the Royal Family series of Serviceberry trees, Amelanchier canadensis 'Prince William' is a slightly smaller variety with an upright and bushy but compact habit that makes it a good choice for smaller gardens. It grows clusters of white, star-shaped flowers in spring against young, bronze-tinged foliage. The leaves turn green in summer, followed by bright shades of orange, yellow, and pink-purple in autumn. Small dark red fruits emerge after flowering (which are typically larger than other Juneberry varieties) making Amelanchier canadensis 'Prince William' an excellent choice for attracting wildlife into the garden.

Amelanchier 'Prince William' prefers a full sun to partially shaded position in a moist, well-draining soil. In 20 years you can expect this Amelanchier to reach an approximate height and spread of 2.5 x 1.5 metres.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
