Description

Thuja occidentalis 'Danica' is a delightful small globular conifer with flat sprays of tightly packed foliage. The colourful foliage is bright-green throughout spring, turning darker in summer and adopting a bronze tint in autumn before bright-green again in winter. Danica should be planted in full sun where possible and in moist but well-drained soil.

A rounded dwarf conifer, Thuja occidentalis 'Danica' will grow to just 1 x 0.5 metres in 20 years, making it perfect for small gardens. Known as a White Cedar for the pale bark, it is the evergreen foliage that gives great winter interest and structure to a border or rockery.

AKA White Cedar Danica, Thuja Occidentalis Danica Conifer, Thuya Danica

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Conifers require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.

Most Conifers need very little pruning. Simply remove any dead, diseased or awkwardly placed branches as and when you see them.
