Description

Ginkgo biloba 'Mariken' is a much smaller version of the Maindenhair tree, making it the ideal specimen for small gardens or a large container. It retains the distinctive fan shaped, green leaves. In autumn, the foliage turns bright yellow for a fabulous display.

Growing to a height and spread of 2 metres in 20 years, Ginkgo biloba 'Mariken' has a gently weeping habit. It is hardy, tolerates wind and drought-resistant once established. Just plant in a sunny site that drains well.

Ginkgo biloba is a living fossil dates back 270 million years and, perhaps surprisingly, is a coniferous tree!

AKA Mariken Maidenhair tree, Fossil tree

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
