Description

An unusual variety of Redbud, Cercis canadensis ‘Carolina Sweetheart’ has beautiful heart-shaped variegated leaves and pretty pink-purple flowers. Rich purple-maroon young leaves slowly transform to green leaves with patterned white margins. Before the leaves appear, the pink-purple flowers cover the bare, arching branches.

Cercis canadensis 'Carolina Sweetheart' will grow to 3 x 3 metres in 20 years, making it ideal for small and medium gardens. A sunny position will result in the best flowering.

AKA 'Carolina Sweetheart' Redbud, North American Redbud, Eastern Redbud

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
