Description

Tamarix ramosissima 'Pink Cascade' is an award-winning small tree or large shrub, so called because of its graceful arching branches that are covered with racemes of feather-like pink flowers in late summer to autumn. Foliage is made up of tiny, delicate green needles which when combined with the flowers gives Tamarix ramosissima 'Pink Cascade' a unique, almost fluffy appearance.

A particularly good choice for exposted coastal areas; Tamarix are also known as Salt Cedar because they cope well with salt spray. A full sun position is preferred as a well as a moist, well-draining soil. Once established, this wonderful tree will tolerate some drought. You can expect an approx. height and spread of 5 x 5 metres in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
