Description

A small evergreen conifer, Abies koreana 'Silberlocke' is not short on interest. Curling, dark-green needles display their silvery-white underside in all seasons and create an attractive effect. In spring, large, purple, showy cones adorn the branches and provide a wonderful contrast against the green foliage.

Silberlocke Korean Fir is a compact tree with a conical habit and has broad, low, irregular growth which gives an interesting shape. This slow-growing variety can be expected to reach a height and spread of 2 x 1.5 metres in 20 years.

Abies 'Silberlocke' is low-maintenance and extremely hardy, growing well in moist, but well-drained soils. It prefers a sunny position, although can cope with dappled shade, and is perfect for adding texture to any sized garden.

Aftercare Advice

Conifers require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.

Most Conifers need very little pruning. Simply remove any dead, diseased or awkwardly placed branches as and when you see them.
