Description

An attractive tree with arching branches, Acer rufinerve has distinctive bark with green and creamy white streaks. Foliage is large and mid-green with shallow lobes and 3 points. Autumn colour is stunning in shades of red and orange.

This Snake Bark Maple will grow to 7 x 5 metres in 20 years. Any moisture retentive, well-drained soil will be ideal, along with a position that avoids exposure to cold winds.

Acer rufinerve makes a fabulous feature tree with its wonderful striated bark feature for year-round interest and helicopter-like, winged seed pods.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
