Description

Our Pleached Liquidambar styraciflua trees, commonly known as Sweet Gum, create a wonderful feature with their large, deeply lobed star shaped leaves. Fresh green throughout spring and summer, the leaves turn vivid reds and oranges in a breath taking autumn display.

The clear stems on our also showcase the corky and fissured bark, giving an interesting texture that is popular with children for bark rubbings. We recommend planting them in a position in moist to well-drained soil in full sun where possible.

These pleached trees have been carefully and expertly trained over a number of years to create beautiful screening trees and they are excellent for creating privacy. The grand looking trees produced by this method of training are sometimes known as hedging in the sky or stilt hedging.

Our containerised Pleached trees are available year-round, unlike rootball forms. Please call our Sales and Service team on 01943 660870 to discuss requirements.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
