Description

English Yew (Taxus baccata) is a classic hedging plant with dark green, dense evergreen foliage that is ideal for providing privacy. Whilst Yew is a good canvas to more seasonal plants, it features bright green new growth in spring and dark red fruits that are favoured by birds (but not edible to humans) in autumn.

English Yew hedging will grow in full sun to full shade and can tolerate wind exposure. We recommend planting in well-draining soil.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
