Description

Cornus Florida 'Cherokee Chief' is a striking, large shrub reaching up to 6 meters, known for its lush, ovate green leaves that transform into vivid shades of scarlett red and purple in autumn. In late spring, it produces beautiful, deep rose-red flower bracts up to 10 cm across, adding a vibrant splash of colour to any garden.

Cornus Florida 'Cherokee Chief' prefers sun or partial shade within an exposed or sheltered environment. It will thrive in moist but well-drained clay, loam and sand soils. It has a slow growth rate, reaching an ultimate height and spread of 8 meters in 20-50 years.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
