Description

Ceanothus 'Cascade' is a large, vigorous, evergreen Californian Lilac. This shrub has been grown on 3 bamboo canes in order to shape it. It offers a wonderful display of small, light blue flowers, which grow in tight clusters on large, elongated panicles. This is complemented by large, ovate, glossy green leaves which offer a lovely colour throughout the seasons. This shrub is ideal for a garden border, but can also be trained to grow on a wall side. It is also a perfect choice for a wildlife garden. Being accredited 'Plants for Pollinators' by the RHS, it will attract bees and butterflies to the garden.

Ceanothus 'Cascade' will grow in full sun in a sheltered environment. It prefers well-drained, loam and sand soils and has an ultimate height and spread of 4x4 meters.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Ceanothus require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.

Ceanothus do not require a lot of pruning. Simply remove any dead, diseased or awkwardly placed branches from the tree as and when you see them.
