Description

Ceanothus 'Blue Mound' is an evergreen, mounded shrub with dense clusters of small, vibrant blue flowers. This is complemented by deep green, wavy edged leaves. A fantastic feature of this shrub is its extended flowering season, with blooms appearing in late spring/ early summer, and then again in late summer/early autumn, bringing colour to the garden for much of the year. In addition to its stunning display, this plant is low-maintenance, attractive to pollinators, and has earned the RHS Award of Garden Merit and Plants for Pollinators recognition.

'Blue Mound' will thrive in a sunny, sheltered position. It prefers well-drained, loam and sand soils. Approximate height and spread of 1.5 x 2.5 meters.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Ceanothus require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.

Ceanothus do not require a lot of pruning. Simply remove any dead, diseased or awkwardly placed branches from the tree as and when you see them.
