Description

Unlike most Juneberry trees, Amelanchier x grandiflora 'Robin Hill' has pink buds and pretty palest pink flowers that open to white. Finely serrated, oval foliage is bronze as it emerges in spring, turning darker green in summer and magnificent shades of red and orange in autumn. Small purple-black berries are also produced in autumn, which can be eaten, although are often left as a treat for hungry birds.

Amelanchier x grandiflora 'Robin Hill' has a more upright habit than some Amelanchier and broadens a little with age to gain a height and spread of 4 x 3 metres in 20 years. This fantastic Amelanchier is hardy and tough, growing in most soils including damp sites. Also tolerant of pollution, it is little surprise that 'Robin Hill' has received the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

AKA Amelanchier Robin Hill, Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill', Juneberry Robin Hill, Serviceberry

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
