Description

Camellia japonica 'Bonomiana' is an unusual variety of camellia ideal for year-round interest. Beautiful pale pink flowers with dark pink streaks emerge in winter to early spring against a backdrop of glossy, evergreen foliage. It makes for a lovely floral display at a time of year when colour in the garden is lacking.

Preferring a partial shade to full shade position, Camellia japonica 'Bonomiana' would make a fantastic addition to a shady mixed shrub border. Its evergreen foliage also makes it ideal as a low-maintenance screen and for adding year-round structure to the garden. A hardier Camellia suited to most of the UK and acidic to neutral soils that drain well. Approximate height and spread of 3 x 2 metres in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
